About Maria Darby

ENGLISH FACULTY 

Born and raised in England and later building her career in international education, Maria Darby brings more than two decades of experience in English language teaching, academic leadership, and student support. Throughout her career, she has worked with learners of all ages and educational backgrounds as an EFL instructor and has extensive experience as an international exam interviewer, giving her a deep understanding of how students present their strengths in academic and evaluative settings.

As an Academic Coordinator, Maria has mentored more than 120 teachers and led initiatives designed to elevate academic quality across multiple programs. Her work in curriculum development and exam design enables her to help students recognize how their coursework, skills, and personal experiences come together to form a strong, cohesive, and competitive profile for higher education opportunities.

Maria’s academic background includes the CELTA and DELTA certifications, a BA in Language Education, and advanced professional training through Cambridge University and the University of Oregon. Her ongoing dedication to professional growth allows her to approach college guidance with uptodate pedagogical insight and a deep commitment to student success.

What truly distinguishes Maria is her student-centered perspective: she believes that every learner has a meaningful story to share and is committed to helping them express it with authenticity and confidence.
