About Alyssa Jodoin

ENGLISH FACULTY 

Alyssa Jodoin was born in Ontario, Canada.  She received her honors bachelor degree in English Literature and History from Lakehead University.  She also received her bachelor of Education from Lakehead University in 2015 where she specialized in English as an Additional Language.

Upon graduation Alyssa worked at an International school in China teaching English literature, communications, university/life planning, and social studies. She worked as the Head of Department and was the curriculum writer and coordinator for English 11 and Communication 12. In this position she also worked with students preparing for the IELTS exam.

 When she returned home to Canada she began working at Lakehead University teaching English for Academic purposes in the International Student Department.  In this position she taught adult working professionals to advance their English for either university or career purposes.

 Alyssa now works as the English department head in Medellin Colombia where she has been for the last 5 years.  She teaches AP Literature and has been the lead curriculum writer for a creative writing and literary analysis course called The Art of Fiction.

 Alyssa’s teaching philosophy is rooted in the principles of systems thinking, emphasizing the profound impact of listening, trust, and action in empowering communities and individuals. As an educator, She considers herself a storyteller, weaving together knowledge and experiences to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment.
