About Megan Vander Horst

Megan Vander Horst began her education journey at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. While at university, her primary focus was on education and early childhood development. Megan’s passion  and dedication to education lead her to complete both her Bachelors and Masters degrees in just five years.

With a bachelors degree in Elementary Education and a masters degree in Exceptional Student Education, Megan began her work in education at BB International school in 2009. As the ESE specialist and lead inclusion teacher for the deaf and hard of hearing, Megan helped develop and implement Florida education programs and evaluations for special needs students.

In 2013, Megan and her family moved to South Carolina. As a teacher at Mid-Carolina Middle School, where she taught English & Language Arts for 5 years, Megan enjoyed the rewarding opportunity to work with students from various backgrounds and with varying resources.

Megan returned to BB International School in 2018 as curriculum coordinator and shortly after became the school director.

In 2022, Megan transitioned to a virtual teaching program offered through Jamie the Tutor, which allowed her to work with students across the country while also spending more time with her family. This innovative virtual learning model allows teachers to work with students to meet individually learning needs at a customized pace.

Throughout her career, Megan has focused on developing her students reading and writing abilities while encouraging students to appreciate these creative outlets. Megan looks forward to continuing to work with students of all ages to develop exceptional written and verbal communication skills for many years to come.
