About Lori Giese
Financial aid consultant
Lori has over 27 years of experience in enrollment management at three different institutions. For the last 22 years, she has worked exclusively in financial aid with undergraduate, graduate and medical school students starting as an advisor and concluding as a director. Understanding the intricacies
of the financial aid process and knowing how cumbersome it can be, Lori recognizes the importance in guiding students and families through this process in order for them to achieve their educational goals.
Lori was born in Tokyo, Japan and grew up in San Antonio and Houston, TX. She attended Bryant University in Rhode Island where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (B.S. inB.A.) and majored in accounting in 1990. Deciding to stay in Rhode Island, Lori worked as a private accountant after graduation. Later, Lori made a career change and joined the Admission staff at her alma mater. Working as a tour guide for four years in the Admission office helped with this transition as she had extensive knowledge about Bryant. During her time there, Lori travelled and recruited students in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New York and Massachusetts. She left Bryant and moved to Miami with her husband where she started working in the Admission office at Barry University in Miami Shores, FL. Because of Lori’s extensive travel in the northeast area, she was asked to continue that recruitment for Barry. It was during her time at Barry that she started to get more involved with financial aid and moved over to the University of Miami financial aid office as an advisor. There she met with undergraduate and graduate students aid and assisted them with the financial aid process. Lori moved up the ranks overseeing verification, compliance and system processing. In 2012 Lori was asked to be part of the university ERP implementation team as the functional lead for the financial aid office when UM upgraded its student platform to PeopleSoft Campus Solutions. Once the implementation was complete, she returned to the financial aid office as Director of Strategic Initiatives and eventually took on the roll of Director of Financial Aid at the UM Miller School of Medicine. Lori retired from UM in 2020 and now works as a Financial Aid Consultant helping families.
Lori enjoys traveling the world with her family and experiencing new cultures. Each year they pick a new country to visit and explore.
